FAQ – Wedding Photo Q&A
Call 928 415-0736 For Your Consultation
Thank you for visiting this site and congratulations on your upcoming wedding ! Here are some common questions people ask about our wedding photography services.
Are You the One photographing My Wedding?
Yes, I will always be the person taking your photographs, unless we agree to other arrangements. I do work with other photographers at times, but usually as assistants or in situations that you have agreed to. Dates that I’m available fill quickly because of this policy.
Cameras and Image Quality
What Kind of Camera Do You Use?
I currently shoot with a Canon 1D Mark III professional camera and professional flash equipment. I also carry another body and lens for backup.
How High is the Image Quality?
The Canon 1D Mark III is a 10 mega-pixel pro camera. The images from this camera can easily be enlarged to 24 by 36 inches perfectly with no loss of image quality.
Can I Print the Images That Come on the DVD?
Yes, the images on the DVD are high-resolution RAW or JPEG format, depending on what you’ve ordered. You can print these using Photoshop or any other image editing software. To get the best results, you should learn to use color management properly and use color profiles for your printer and the paper you print to.
Can I Use the Images From the DVD on My Web Site?
Yes you can, but you’ll have to resize them so that they’re not too big. A program like PhotoShop or PhotoShop Elements is good for this. Generally, 800×600 is as large as you’d want for web images or email. If you’d like a DVD with only small web-sized images, I can produce one for you for an extra charge. (This service may already be included in some wedding photo packages).
Do you Re-Touch Photographs?
I can retouch images for you, for an extra fee. This includes airbrushing skin, removing blemishes or scars, fixing “fly-aways” in hair, objects in the background, etc.
Studio Lighting
Do You Use Studio Lighting?
Depending on the number of people in the wedding party and the package you ordered, I may bring a studio lighting set-up to photograph group shots and to get some effects that aren’t possible with on-camera flash. These lights are used mostly for the largest group shots when an on-camera flash isn’t sufficient.
Booking and Payment
How Much is the Deposit? When is the Rest Due?
For packages under $1000, I require a 50% deposit to reserve the date, and the remainder is due 2 weeks prior to the date. For packages over $1000, I require a $500 non-refundable deposit to reserve the date and the remainder must be received 2 weeks prior. Deposits are non-refundable.
Weddings requiring overnight stays will incur additional room and travel expenses. Prices and fees are subject to change without notice, however once your deposit is accepted, your prices quoted will not change.
Art Prints
Do You Create Artistic Prints?
Yes, there are many different things that can be done. For instance, some photos look great in black and white. One of my favorite techniques is to make the background black and white with the bride and/or groom in color. Somtimes, printing on a different type of paper can give a whole different look to a photo – I like the look of certain matte papers and fine art paper.
Another interesting effect is to posterize a photo and print it big!
Can You Help Me Design My Wedding Invitations or Thank-You Cards?
Of course! For wedding invitations, we can make use of photos from your engagement photo session. For Thank-You cards, you can choose from any of the wedding photos or the engagement photos. I print the photos directly to matte card stock, which is an archival paper on the print side. I’ll also print your personal message on the back or inside of the card, and provide you with envelopes. It takes about two weeks to fill your order, so be sure to order ahead of time.
Online Gallery
Can We See a Full Wedding Online?
Yes! I can provide links to full wedding galleries. For privacy purposes, I don’t put public links to these galleries on my web site. But I can provide you links to complete weddings on request. Since you are shopping for a photographer, it’s important that you see a complete event so that you can see whether the photographer captures great shots throughout the event. But you must realize that the online galleries are “proofs,” which means they’re not color corrected or touched up as I would do for printing, and they’re much smaller than a nice print would be. If you really want to see how good a photographer’s work is, you have to see prints of their work, not mini images on a PC monitor. That is why I prefer to show you my prints in person. Setup a consultation so I can show you the difference!
